WHO ARE THE NEWTON ARBORETUM & BOTANICAL GARDENS?
We are 6 acres of arboretum and gardens.
We are 13 acres of seedling prairie.
We are a volunteer Board of Directors.
We are 1 horticulturist and 1 office manager.
We are MANY volunteers.
We are supporters, donors, and MORE.
We are a COMMUNITY.
The Newton Arboretum & Botanical Gardens (NABG) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) privately managed, public garden that celebrates nature by focusing on horticulture, community, and growth. We are a refuge where you can discover the language of nature spoken through plants. JOIN US as we CREATE, GROW, and BLOOM to provide a place where all can Discover Their Peace of Nature!
The NABG relies on volunteers and private donors for all funding. We are not a city park and are not managed by the City. The NABG receives NO tax-subsidized support.
The NABG grounds & gardens are open from Sunrise to Sunset year round.

Painted Rock Snake Community Activity
Hello Everyone!
My name is Jasper, and I am a county rock snake. I was “born” June 2023 in Jasper County, Iowa.
I came upon this beautiful Newton Arboretum & Botanical Gardens during my search high and low for a wonderful place for me to live and grow.
While slithering around the plants, flowers, and trees, I realized I had found just the right spot for me, where I could remain outdoors and free.
While I reside here I hope to bring some smiles to visitors and those passing by, so I am asking for your help to make sure I catch their eye.
The more I grow, the more I’ll show. So will you please paint a rock and add it at my end? Then won’t you please also tell a friend?
I thank you for your kindly visit, and all your help if you can lend it.
